Our goals for pre-surgery evaluations are to help patients identify potential obstacles to post-surgical success, address barriers as necessary, and develop a plan to help them achieve the best outcomes.

 We meet these goals by completing a comprehensive intake interview where we gather information about a patient’s psychosocial and weight loss history. We also assess for a patient’s ability to follow a strict diet and other post-surgical instructions and administer a variety of psychological measures to assess for any major mental health issue that may impair the patient’s ability to be compliant with necessary follow-up care.

Information gathered from the intake interview and psychological measures is synthesized into an evaluation report that includes recommendations for the patient. The final evaluation report, including recommendations, is reviewed with the patient before it is sent to the referring surgeon.
